I know this wrap-up is late, but let’s be honest, a lot was going on at the end of the year! And frankly, if we can’t be kind to ourselves about missed deadlines after last year, when can we?
Like 2020, so much happened that I honestly think pictures speak louder than lessons, so again, enjoy my life lessons in pictures!
Books
My debut, The Checklist, came out on June 1 and my sophomore novel, The Bounce Back, came out on October 26. It is wild to think that the things I worked so hard on are out in the world and that people are enjoying them. I have to say that my absolute favorite part is hearing from readers who have enjoyed the books. To all of you who have read the books, reviewed them, and reached out to share how much you loved them, thank you!

Wandering in the Woods
There are very few things that I can point to during the pandemic and say, “but it’s great that…” and learning to road trip is one of them. As soon as I received my final vaccination shot and cleared my two weeks, I hit the road. I didn’t grow up road-tripping–historically, road trips haven’t been safe for Black Americans, or women traveling alone–they still kind of aren’t, and I can’t pretend that parts of the trip that included “don’t even stop to pee” territory, but as it turned out, I LOVE ROAD TRIPS.
I was gone for a month+ long on what I named the Big Ass Road Trip that went like this:
- San Francisco, CA
- Central California, CA
- Los Angeles, CA
- Los Vegas, NV
- The Grand Canyon, AZ
- Sedona, AZ
- Tucson, AZ
- Truth Consequences, NM
- Santa Fe, NM
- Denver, CO
- Jackson, WY (Grand Teton and Yellowstone)
- Salt Lake, UT
- Reno, NV
- Yosemite, CA
- San Francisco, CA
Since I wanted to see as much as possible and relax after being cooped up, I tried not to drive more than four to six hours a day. By doing that, I stopped in places I wouldn’t have anticipated and saw things I never would have seen. If you are following me on Instagram, then you likely saw photos from each stop, so I won’t repost them all here. But, needless to say, I would 100% recommend that trip to every!
